This project includes building a sidewalk/bicycle path on Heckscher Drive (State Road A1A) to connect the trail at the entrance of Huguenot Memorial Park to the Timucuan Trail at the Fort George River Bridge. The plans feature a 12-foot-wide paved trail adjacent to the east side of Heckscher Drive.

This project also consists of milling and resurfacing, base work, shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, curb and gutter work, lighting, highway signing, guardrail installation, sheet pile walls, concrete barriers, and other incidental construction on 0.57 miles of Heckscher Drive from Huguenot Memorial Park to the Fort George River Bridge.

C.W. Matthews Contracting, Co. Inc. was awarded the contract for this $5.6 million project.

Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. No lane closures will be permitted from 7 to 9 a.m.
