Reconstruction and intersection improvements on J. Turner Butler Boulevard (State Road 202) from east of I-95 to Phillips Highway (U.S. 1/State Road 5) and Phillips Highway from south of J. Turner Butler Boulevard to north of Mustang Road began Monday, June 1, 2026.
The project provides capacity enhancements to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion by reconfiguring the intersection to reduce traffic signal phases. The project includes milling and resurfacing, base work, shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, traffic signals, lighting, highway signing, guardrail, sidewalks/bicycle path and other incidental construction.
De Moya Contracting, Inc, was awarded the $10.9 million project.
Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the duration of the project. No lane closures are allowed from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or 4:45 a.m. to 12:20 a.m. Monday through Friday, 4 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Saturdays, 5:15 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Sundays or during JTA bus operating hours. Work will typically occur during the daytime, Monday through Saturday, and nightly Sunday through Thursday.
